Things to Do Before Undergoing Fertility Treatment
For people who are desperately want to have baby and tried for a long time yet still empty handed fertility treatment might be their last resort. What they don’t understand is going through fertility treatment could be more stressful than what they imagined if they don’t prepared everything, emotionally and physically beforehand. There are lot of medical fertility treatments offered out there and by at least researching it in advance, the stress level that they experienced could be reduced.
Before come to the doctor researching about possible fertility treatment that is best for us, we have to prepare and compiled all of our files (medical, personal and gynaecological).
- Medical histories are medical information that could affect the fertility treatment such as asthma, hypertension, ulcer, chronic bladder infections and any allergies to certain medication.
- Personal information includes information about our lifestyle such as diet, exercise, smoking or drugs use, and any weight gain or weight loss.
- Gynaecological history should include information about menstruation, sexually transmitted diseases, and type of birth control used.
After you compiled all of the history described above, the next step would be to sit down with your partner and try to answer list of questions such as:
- How much money you willing to spend to undergo fertility treatment if you don’t covered by health insurance
- What type of insurance do you need and how much do you covered for doing the treatment
- Types of fertility treatment offered
- Do you have any fertility treatment preferred
If you already discussed the questions above, the next step you and your partner is to compile list of questions to your fertility doctor. The questions should include
- How much is the cost of fertility treatment recommended by your specialist
- Does your age affect the rate of success
- How many cycle you have to go through in this treatment
- How much time is there between each cycle
Don’t forget to bring notes when you go meet the fertility specialist so you can write everything down for future use.
