Food plays a very important role to our fertility or ability to conceive without us ever realising it. Too much food will make us overweight which can affect our body ability to produce certain hormones that helps us to fall pregnant, and this works for both men and women. And too little food can make us underweight and will also affect our chances for getting pregnant. Recently it was also found that not only the amount of food that can affect our fertility but also that certain food groups can also affect our ability to conceive.

There are some foods that best avoided when trying to conceive. Soy believed to inhibit our ability to conceive because soy is made from plant-derived oestrogen, known as phytoestrogens which in some people produces antioestrogen hence reducing the effect of oestrogen. Oestrogen is very important hormones needed for ovulation. Also try to avoid processed foods as most of them contain a lot of refined flour and sugar. This sort of foods usually makes us overweight and have not have a nutritional value. If eating seafood, try to chose the one with low mercury (avoid albacore tuna because their high mercury content) and try to limit seafood consumption to one to twice a week.
